GENO-break®-system IV with DVGW-certified UV unit

The GENO-break®-system IV is used to continuously kill legionellae (the pathogens causing the legionnaires¿ disease) and other micro-organisms in warm water carrying systems (system volume > 500 l). In the GENO-break®-system, the host cells (e. g. amoebae) contained in the water as well as corrosion particles and cell conglomerates which protect the legionella bacteria are destroyed by means of ultrasound. In a second process step, the legionellae, thus freed, are killed by means of the deactivating effect of the UV-C radiation. The GENO-break®-system IV consists of a sound-proof ultrasound unit with thermal insulation, a DVGW-certified UV unit and an electronic controller which continuously monitors the system. Furthermore, the system features an integrated temperature monitoring, an optical information system with light emitting diodes and displays. The complete and compact system is pre-assembled on a rack. In order to ensure the treatment of the complete volume flow, the system should be installed in the supply pipe of the warm water installation.

This combination has already proved to be effective in several on-site appraisals as the ultrasound technology currently is the only process that allows the amoebae to be broken up. Provided the certified UV unit is used, the installation of the system is also legally approved by § 11 of the German Drinking Water Ordinance (list of treatment agents and disinfection processes).
